Nylon-MXD6 Monofilament

Table 13 compares the tensile characteristics of Nylon-MXD6 monofilament with other polymers. Nylon-MXD6 monofilament exhibits greater tensile strength than Nylon 6, Nylon66 and PET. Compared with Nylon 6 and Nylon 66 polymers, Nylon-MXD6 also shows greater elastic modulus. Furthermore, these qualities of Nylon-MXD6 are retained even under high humidity.

1) Limiting Viscosity

Fig. 13 compares the tensile strength of Nylon-MXD6 monofilament with other polymers after steam is applied to the monofilament (120℃, gauge pressure of 1.1kgf/cm2steam). Nylon-MXD6 monofilament maintained 60% of its original tensile strength after being steamed for 7 days. It thus shows greater hydrolytic resistance than monofilaments made of Nylon 6, and especially that made of PET.

Table 14 compares the tensile strength of Nylon-MXD6 monofilament with other polymers after they have been immersed in heated Hydrogen peroxide (3% concentration, 90℃, 8hr). Nylon-MXD6 monofilament retains about 70% of its original tensile strength, showing a greater resistance to Hydrogen peroxide than Nylon 6 monofilament.
