A-D

AGELESS™ oxygen absorber

A product that prevents the oxidation of food and other contents in packaging containers sealed with film wrapping or other means by absorbing the oxygen inside using the principle whereby iron reacts with oxygen by rusting (i.e., oxidation).

BT materials

A group of printed circuit board materials offering high thermal resistance and reliability, based on MGC’s proprietary BT resin. BT materials are primarily used as substrates for organic IC plastic packages.

EL chemicals (electronics chemicals)

Chemicals used in the electronics industry, such as for cleaning semiconductors.

Foamed plastic

A lightweight, shock-absorbing, heat-insulating, noise-reducing, and recyclable material used in a wide range of areas in daily life, such as instant noodle cups, home insulation, industrial packaging, and automotive parts.

Geothermal power plants

A clean electricity generation method that uses geothermal energy. Through a joint venture with other companies, MGC has become the only general chemical company involved in the geothermal power generation business.

Methanol

Referred to as the cornerstone of C1 chemistry, methanol is used in a wide range of applications. Around 70% of it is produced from natural gas, and its end-uses are diverse, including as a raw material for adhesives, agrochemicals, paints, engineering plastics, synthetic fibers, and heart disease medication.

MXDA (Meta-xylenediamine)

A colorless liquid at room temperature, MXDA is a diamine incorporating a benzene ring into its molecular structure. This distinctive chemical structure demonstrates original properties when used for epoxy, polyamide, and urethane applications. Epoxy curing agents that use MXDA have low-temperature curing properties, increasing the chemical resistance and anti-corrosion performance of coatings.

MX-Nylon

Nylon (polyamide resin) made from MXDA. With excellent gas barrier properties, it is used in food packaging containers and PET bottles to prevent the permeation of oxygen and carbon dioxide, enabling the quality of food and beverages to be preserved for long periods.

Polycarbonate

A type of thermoplastic used in a range of applications, including transportation equipment such as aircraft and automobiles, electrical, electronic, optical, and medical devices, and bulletproof glass. It is also known as one of the five major engineering plastics.

Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ)

Pyrroloquinoline quinone is a vitamin-like substance discovered as a coenzyme for oxidoreductases. It is approved for use in Japan and overseas as an ingredient for functional foods suited to super-aged societies and is also used as an ingredient for cosmetics.

QOL Innovation Center Shirakawa

QOL Innovation Center Shirakawa was established in Shirakawa City, Fukushima Prefecture in 2017 as the main hub for realizing our Group mission, “creating value to share with society,” by conducting R&D and manufacturing of a variety of differentiated products for improving quality of life (QOL).

Super-pure hydrogen peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide of extremely high purity, used as a cleaning solution and an etchant for silicon wafers in the manufacturing process of electronic devices.
