Completion of Construction to Expand Production Capacity at Overseas Electronic Materials Manufacturing Subsidiary

　Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc. (MGC; Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masashi Fujii) announces the completion of construction to expand the production capacity of BT materials for semiconductor packages at MGC Electrotechno (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (ETT, located in WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate, Rayong Province, Kingdom of Thailand), which is a subsidiary of MGC Electrotechno Co., Ltd. (ET, a subsidiary of MGC and supplies BT laminated materials in Nishishirakawa-gun, Fukushima Pref.).

　The MGC Group established ETT in Thailand, in addition to ET in Japan, as part of its business continuity plan (BCP). ET, as the mother factory, oversees the mass production of new products and production of advanced, high-performance, high-mix low-volume products, while ETT manages the production of low-mix high-volume products. The MGC group has built its global supply system of BT laminated materials with these two sites since 2013.

　Overall, the electronics industry is expected to see broad market growth, with increasing demand for semiconductors forecasted for a variety of applications including 5G, DX, IoT, the metaverse, and automotive-related. High-performance semiconductor packaging materials for advanced applications such as 5G and use in data centers require particularly high reliability, low warpage, and specific electrical properties. To meet these demands and to proactively promote business expansion, we have increased our production capacity for high-performance products by installing additional manufacturing facilities at ETT.

　With this expansion in production capacity, MGC will be able to produce high-performance products at ETT as well as enhance our BCP. We will continue to work toward further business expansion and promptly respond to diversifying demands in the ever-expanding global semiconductor market.
